Amateur Radio License

To obtain an amateur radio license in India you have to pass an exam conducted by the ministry of communications (Amateur station operator's certificate exam ASOC)

There are four different types of license awarded to an amateur:

1. Advanced

2. Grade 1

3. Grade 2

4. Restricted Amateur shortwave license

5. Shortwave listener's license (SWL)

In general the exam leading to these licenses has two parts

1. Elementary Radio theory and regulations - written test

2. Morse code sending and receiving test

The written exam is simple & requires only elementary knowledge of electronics. You will be able to learn Morse code to the expected level by devoting 15 minutes every day for about four weeks. The club supplies you with all the required study material & practice Morse classes are held regularly. A software downloaded from web is also a good way to learn Morse code. You can get it from the coordinators by mail or his site.
