ABOUT US
The Hindi Sahitya Sabha is a body which is primarily dedicated to foster Hindi literature in the campus. Apart from working in the field of oration and literature, at the Hindi Sahitya Sabha we also work on ‘Nirvaak’- the campus viewspaper, voicing the unspoken critical issues of campus junta.
At the Hindi Sahitya Sabha, we conduct workshops on literary writing; as well as rigorous literary discussions on contemporary issues. The club enthusiastically contributed to the IIT Kanpur Podcast Project by recording three podcasts out of which two were released and one is in pipeline; with “adaptations of Hindi writings of famous authors in other languages” being the focus of the podcasts’ content.
We participate to win in many competitions which include the Inter-IIT Cultural Meets and other cultural fests. We are also trying to initiate new literary activities through proper workshops on campus, one of them being the standardised Hindi Parliamentary Debating.
Presently, the club is working towards organising a literary festival in collaboration with the other clubs that are a part of the Council. As of now none of the IIT’s have a festival dedicated solely to literature and non-performing arts. With this we aim to be the first in this domain. It would not only provide a stage to our alumni in the field of literature but also a platform for the budding writers to connect with them.
There exists no prerequisite for joining the Hindi Sahitya Sabha apart from love and appreciation for Hindi language and literature. Your enthusiasm and passion is all we stand in need of.
