Battlefield ’09 kicks of with The Avaya Labs Case Study on 20th September 2008. Mr. Vijay Gondi from Avaya Labs will be coming down to IITK to brief students on what is expected of them in the competition.

The prizes for this case study are as follows:

 

First       : INR 10,000
Second : INR 6,000
Third      : INR 4,000

 

 

In addition to the dough, Avaya Labs will be making an internship offer to 3 deserving candidates. These three candidates will be selected from the top 3 teams on the basis of their performances in the competition and personal interviews.

 

 

Details of Avaya’s Internship Offer

 

Stipend: INR 14,000 per month

 

Location: Avaya R&D Centre, Pune

 

Relocation Allowance: Train fare from Kanpur to Pune and back

 

Accommodation: Students will have to pay for their own accommodation but Avaya would help find shared accommodation close to its campus. There is a free bus service that is provided to employees from various points in the city to commute to and fro from work, which can be availed by the student interns.

 

Field of Research: Real Time Enterprise Communications. Some of the intern projects that Avaya plans in 2009 are:

 

Location based applications on mobile

Video telephony

Camera controls, creating Avatars based on speech

Interactive voice and video response

Enterprise collaboration in virtual worlds

Call routing algorithms

Document mining for content information

Application development on IP phones

Automation techniques for communication systems and endpoints

 

 

Rules and Regulations:

 

• The competition is open to ALL IIT Kanpur students, irrespective of branch, year and programme.
 
• Teams of a maximum of three are allowed.
 
• Solutions must adhere to the following format:

Page limit  : 10
Page size  : A4
Borders     : 1 inch on each side (at least)
Font           : Times New Roman size 12 (at least)

 

• All entries should be mailed to battlefield.megabucks09@gmail.com .

 

• The judges, mentors and organizers will take utmost care in handling the entries and guarantee utmost confidentiality. (The judges sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.)

 

• Every contestant must agree with the rules of the contest and must agree to accept the declaration of confidentiality.

 

• Contestants must agree to accept that their registration forms and other entries will not be returned to them and personal data will be available for statistical purposes.

 

• Entries would remain the property of the legal owner.

 

• All conflicts will be subject to jurisdiction of Kanpur Courts only.
